RE: Shirley Van Doorn - Wymore Cemetery
I think Shirley Gleason would be Blanch Wymore Van Dorn's daughter.

Alva Cochran Tanner, 2. James Amos Wymore; Alva M, died young; Amos W.; died young; Ellen A. who married Robert Henry Dickson; Laura A. who married Joseph Newton Wymore.

Please contact me at if you are willing to share.

Martha J Hansel #71488964
I want to tell you that Oscar O (Owen) Hansel is not the spouse of Martha J. They are mother and son. They are on the same stone. You will notice that she was born in 1836 and he in 1871.

Her husband Henry died in 1906 and is buried in Rose Hill with a military tombstone. She most likely lived with her son Oscar after Henry died. Could you please change the relationship of Martha to mother?

Martha was the daughter of Henry Hansel and Martha Jane Bolton. I am researching the Boltons because my husband is related through Hannah Bolton, sister of Msrtha Jane.

RE: Harris/Indianapolis Cemetery
Hi Kate, I will see what I have on Freeman Harris and Bridges.
BTW my husband's mother's grandmother was a Hite. Sarah Elizabeth Hite Smith. She's buried in Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa.
I have been in contact with Gene Hite.

If you want to send me a copy of that photo to I might be able to tell if it is Sarah's mom. I have a photo of her. I don't think I have any photos of Sarah. I don't have one of my own 3 greats grandma, Mary Angeline either but do have a photo of my two greats Grandma and several of her siblings. I'll try to round up some stuff to send you. If you want to start by looking at my line on find a grave start here with Mary Angeline who was your Sarah's sister.

I'm working with another lady on both Hollenback and Jennings history and we are trying really hard to figure out where Rosewell Jennings and his wife are buried. You don't happen to know do you?

Will email more to you soon

Yes this family will make your head spin. :) I work on this line the least of all my lines just because of that fact. :) I don't have too much info unless you are interested in Sarah's sister Mary Angeline Jennings Hollenback. That is my line. I am just starting to look into some of Sarah and Mary Angeline's siblings. Oh I have quite a bit of info on Nancy Jane Jennings Hollenback too. She was also Sarah and Mary's sister. Mary and Nancy were married to brothers (George and John Hollenback). I just recently found the sisters Delilah Josephine Jennings Busby and Rosetta C. Jennings Busby. I also have some info on the Jennings' sisters' brother William Henry Jennings. One of his sons married back into my Hollenback family. Yes it is quite a tangle! If I can swap info with you send me an email and let me know what you need.

Thank you
We have been adding stone photos for Mahaska county, Iowa.
We started doing Wymore Cemetery this week and came across your work. Very Nice!
You are doing a wonderful job of documenting all information on the stone/marker. A little thing like the name of a Funeral service provider can be a great lead.
Your efforts will make the job of a reseacher 100 years from now a lot easier.

Thank you so much for your time and effort.

Kate, YOU ROCK! This is a perfect picture of John Calvin's marker and I am delighted to see from your transcription that it includes his Civil War service as well. I can even see the marker of his son David in the background. Plus you were so prompt. I cannot thank you enough. My 91 year old dad has finally broken down and agreed to get high speed Internet and I can't wait for him to see this. His first cousin is 93 and she will remember and enjoy. Her surname was Tucker. Thanks again.

RE: Adams./Wymore Cem.
I will have to pull out my Adams stuff, and sadly it is messy because they have many common names with a common last name. These may not be ours, but I always hope the stone may have a clue our words miss. You have done a great job posting them all. Nancy Padget and family was like striking gold. :)

Jason Bolton
Dickson/ Dixon

It has been a long time since I have contacted you. I do believe we discusssed Frank Bolton. As I was going through the cemetery records that you have given. I came across the Dicksons. The names being in the Wymore Cemetery. You have a Bruce and a Joseph DICKSON. Then you also have a Ellen Dixon and a R H Dixon. In my records, I have a Robert Henry DICKSON and a Ella A. (Bolton) Dickson. They had five children that I know of. Joseph T., Dora A., Frankie M. Bruce A., Rella. It looks as though Ellen and R H are the same as in my records, and could it be that the cemetery misspelled the last name on RH and Ellen?
