Rebecca Lawson #29149094
Hi Bill. I noticed that you posted a photo on Rebecca's memorial that is of the marriage of William Lawson to Jane Banks, 1758 in Halifax CO, VA. That marriage is not for the couple you posted it on. William of Scott County, Virginia is not the William who married Jane Banks. That was speculated on years ago and finally proven by many Lawson researchers that the man who married Jane Banks is a different man who moved to Georgia and died there in 1800. Would you please consider deleting the marriage info you added on Rebecca's memorial? Thank you so much.

RE: Sponsorships
Hello Bill, it's a delight to "meet" you too! I love findagrave and, and I, like you, try to sponsor all my direct-line relatives. I guess I did get to them before you did, but I can't thank you enough for trudging out to that cemetery and locating the grave and posting up their memorial. It's such joy I experience when I find information that seems so easy to me to find, but I fully understand the work, the effort that others before me have done that make just online searches so easy and rewarding. I can't thank you enough.....cousin!!! haha. I don't create many memorials, but I try to give back by doing lots of research on random people and then sending edit requests to the memorial creators and by the time I'm finished, I've linked up dozens of lines of a family way back, that someday someone will delight over. I'd love to send you a quick email and tell you how I'm connected to the area and how I'm connected to Johannes and Utilla. God Bless!

John Schmierer could be the son of Johann Jacob Schmeyer 15533967 and his wife Maria Barbel Doll. Born in Germany moved to PA and somehow got to NC. What do you think? Mary Jane

Thanks for the reference. I changed it to the 30th. I was probably looking at the NC Death Index, which isn't always correct.
p.s. I really don't like death certificates as that are now very attractive. Such information should be on a Family tree.

You're welcome. Do you have any information about her children?

Carolina Caswell
Cornelia Brandon
This is what we do know about Cornelia:

and her parents are buried here:

There is no record or evidence of Cornelia's burial in Cedars Cemetery. Since she died after her spouse, she may have wished to be buried elsewhere. The word "Milton" could mean the town of Milton, the Caswell County township of Milton or somewhere in the vicinity of Milton which would include Halifax Co Va and Person Co NC as well as the African American Milton Cemetery or Cedars Cemetery.

Alonzo Brown, Martha and Ellen
Hello Bill,

First, I would like to wishe you and your family a Happy New Year!!

Thank you for all of your hard work that you have contributed to help me. I didn't know that there were two different cemeteries, now I know.

I will be calling State Line Cemetery to inquire about the new discovery of my grand uncle's gravesite and to if they can reference any of the other plots that are unmarked.

I really want you to know that you gave me another leap forward on my family tree. Thank you so very much. The words are not enough to show how much I appreciate the pictures and discoveries from you.

I have been blessed and I wish that I can someday repay you for you diligence in assisting me.

I have a question about turning over a memorial that you spoke of, I am not too familiar with that process. If you can further elaborate on this, I'd appreciate any help on the subject.

With Great Respect

James Finney - Rock Spring Cemetery

Got your note about James Finney's obituary. His tombstone has the April date and the paper has the March date. The March date is most likely correct but I have left the memorial as is on the tombstone.

Martha Rebecca Carlton
I saw your message to K about Martha Carlton not being a child of Findley Carlton. It has not been confirmed, but believed that her mother was Mary Ellen Carlton, a daughter of Mary Miller Carlton. She married William Walker in 1891 and had chidren Robert & Bertha Walker. She married George W. Carlton in 1900 and had 6 children. George Carlton was a brother to my second great grandmother Elvira Carlton. Martha was called Mattie by her grandchildren. She told her grandson Clyde who her father was. She died in Danville, Virginia in 1966. See memorial 52623209. She was called Mattie by her children and grandchildren. My cousin Clyde Carlton and I researched this information about his grandmother.

Bill, I am a Daughter of the American Revolution. I could never lead any one on to false hope. Bible Records will stand in court & at national when papers are sent in. Everyone needs truth. I too have Carlton lineage.
