I am past president and historian of the National Association of Swor Families. I am trying to help save the Garvin Memorial Cemetery in Dallas, Dallas, TX as it has been rezoned as commercial property with multi-families owning it one of which is buried there Mr. Mathis! As in most old cemeteries the black families were buried outside the now fenced in area. The land around the cemetery is for sale! I don't know for sure who is behind the selling of the land and are trying to move the graves! This is outrageous as the land was donated by Mr. Garvin to be a cemetery for all time and he is buried there with other members of his family. The name of the Garvin Cemetery was called Smith Hall Cemetery at first. Please help us protect our ancestors and their resting place!
