|Katy Pace Byrd||Elizabeth Patterson|
I am a grand-niece of Mary Elizabeth Patterson, known as Aunt Mary to her family. We appreciate your creating the page at findagrave! I met her in 1963 (I was 11 years old), when my mother, Betsy Patterson Pace and her sister, Mildred F. Patterson took us from North Carolina on a marathon trip across the country to California to meet various relatives out there.
Our family, all descendants of Aunt Mary's father, my great-grandfather Edmund DeWitt Patterson, is planning a reunion in Redlands, California in the fall. I have been preparing the flyers and reminders that we are sending out to all the cousins, and the one for July will focus on Aunt Mary. I wanted to ask if I might use the photo of her as Mother Willoughby (the one with the top hat) in my flyer. Or, if you are not the original owner of this photo, perhaps you could point me to that person. I believe this picture is posted in a number of places online, but still wanted to check with you.
Thanks for your help.

|Ann Goddard||Fredolf Hamlow|
Thank you for your bio of Fred Hamlow. I found it while doing research for my father, who turns 90 next week. He survived teenage years locked in a TB sanitarium. You wrote that you hoped that one of Fred's students would see your page and remember him for the caring person he was. I want to tell you that I have shared the page with my father, who could be said to have been one of Fred's closest students. He lay in the bed with TB at Ahwahnee next to Fred when Fred died; they had a close friendship and Fred was probably the most meaningful mentor he ever had. He has a framed picture of Fred in his house (he has a few pictures of their time at Ahwahnee). Dad speaks fondly of the education that Fred gave him while he missed 3 years of high school. No library would lend their books to the TB patients, so my father's love of reaading is entirely attributable to Fred's lending his own books to him. No doubt that helped a great deal as Dad got better, went back for his senior year of high school, graduated, and went on to get a Masters in Social Work at U Cal Berkeley. He had a great career of public service (while at Ahwahnee he dedicated his life to helping kids who were institutionalized), became a great public speaker (both of which he attributed to Fred's mentorship), and leaves a legacy with his granddaughter heading a public health division in Illinois. I guess I have something to thank Fred for, as well. As my research is my father's day gift to Dad, as well as a birthday gift, I hope that you too share in the merit that Fred had. One should always remember that kindnesses can be conferred, even by the sick and dying, which have profound reverberations for society.

|Janice Anzalone||location of graves|
Hi I am coming to California in a few weeks and am trying to locate some graves.
The graves for the most part have only a cemetery location but no section or grave marker info.
Can you assist me? Or point me to someone who is able to help?

Just wanted to let you know that I found the death certificate on Familysearch.org. Interestingly, it lists the cemetery as Roselawn and his parents as Frederick Funk & Myrtle Smith. Need to check some things out here at the local genealogy library to make sure the memorial is in the correct location.

|MFC||RE: Fred funk|
Does the death certificate list his parents? If I have the correct Fred Funk, I have seen his middle initial listed both ways. Where did you locate the DC? I can't for the life of me, find it online, and I do have Ancestry. I am not related at all. Just created the memorial from cemetery records. I do, though, enjoy a bit of mystery and sleuthing!! I always wonder what the story is beside a grave site that stands alone. I will have to check to see if he is buried next to other FUNK'S.

I recently received two edits from you for the above memorial located in Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn IN. I could not locate documentation to support a DOB. Can you provide the source? I also believe that his middle initial is "R", and that his parents were Henry & Myrtle. Your opinion? Relation?

|Thomas N||Known relationship?|
I'm sending you this message since I noticed you have added a picture of mrs Ida Splain who lived in Nebraska 1892-1973.
That lady might be a cousin to my grandfather. My grandfather's father's four sibblings emigrated from Sweden to America in the late 1880's. Two of them came to Nebraska and Ida's mother may be one of them.
If Ida Splain is one of your relatives, or if you have more information about her or her relatives, I would really appreciate if you contacted me!

Thank you for the wonderful biography you wrote on the life and career of Ruth Warrick. One small correction, and it is very small but as a nephew of the head writer for the daytime drama Guiding Light I wish to share with you that the program's title is not preceded by the article "The" as written. The program was simply entitled "Guiding Light."
Again, my thanks for all you do to improve this wonderful site.

Good Afternoon David,
I am the brother in law of Roz, and I have to ask you relatedly for permission to use your Find A Grave picture of Roz and my Ancestry profile page of her. If you don't want me to use it I can remove it. Do you know when the picture of her by herself was taken? My brother Darrell and Roz married shortly after our mother passed away in 1979. I met her about a year prior to that. firstname.lastname@example.org.

Just to let you know Find-A-Grave declined my edit to link her to her parents. This is the e-mail I received from them:
"This is an automated email letting you know that your recent edit for the Maureen O'Hara (1920 - 2015) Find A Grave memorial has been declined.
General reason: No change. The memorial is up to date with submitted edit." I don't understand the answer but I tried! Thanks again.

I noted an interest in finding her parents' memorials: Charles Fitzsimmons #154355687 and Marguerite Fitzsimmons #154355758. I found them while researching her sister Margot Edwards (after viewing an old "This is Your Life" video). I sent an edit to Find-A-Grave to link her to them. Thanks for creating her memorial, it's beautiful.

|Ted Thiel||My Dad|
Hi David, this is Ted Thiel (Herman the 3rd), Marilyn's step son. I now live up here in Sac, with my daughter Shawna. She told me that you might still have some of my dad's stuff. But I'm writing to you to see if you can do me a favor. I want to honor my dad on Veterans day by writing a little something about him, on my Facebook page with my Newark High friends who knew him somewhat. I also want to post a couple of pictures of my dad. One of them was in his Navy uniform, the other is him wearing that red, white and blue blazer. A few years ago I did, but my external hard drive took a nosedive along with my laptop. I just wanna know if you can email me them two pictures. Also, do you still have anymore boxes of my dad's belongings. Oh thank you very, very much for getting my dad's ashes, so they remain in the family. Take care and have a nice day.
