RE: Dominick Manella Sr
You're welcome. I transferred the memorial to you since you are family. I am slowly working on documenting the entire cemetery as my contribution to find-a-grave.

Find a Grave reminder
In your Virtual Flower messages, please do not use text characters strung together in a long line, such as "******************". It seriously messes up page formatting on the website.

Thank you,

Barbara in California
Dear Dominick,
Just wanted to say hi, and how impressed I am of the people you have met. I love Pola and Colleen Moore. Did Pola speak of Valentino? Hope you have a great weekend. Sincerely, Barbara

RE: Greystone
Hi Dominick. First I was a bit interested in your interest in the play? As you might know it was the scene of a murder/suicide that has been misconstrued by authorities and police since 1929.
The play was fair as to the acting etc. But it moved from the parlor to the office of Edward Doheny Sr. and then to the climax on the grand staircase. It was of course done with the valet as the murderer and and who then committed suicide. It was actually the other way around.
Don't we know each other from earlier correspondence? If you really want to see the mansion well I suggest you contact the Forest Ranger Dept. as they give tours of more of the mansion and the two I talked to after the play were well versed in the actual case.
Hoping to hear from you my friend.

Hi Domenick,
Thanks for your message. I DO have Christmas in Connecticut and every other film that she made, apart from her first silent, Broadway Nights. You can see lots more photo's of her at The Lincoln Centre as well as hundreds of others in my group

Anne Nichols
I was wondering if you knew Ann Nichols the writer of Abies Irish Rose. Which was later turned into two movies. Her play opened in 1922 on Broadway and earned her over 10,000,000. I knew her as a child.

friendly request
Dear Dominick,
My uncle Hugo Hild was acquainted with another lady by the name of Lillian Reinhardt, who married several times & the family lost touch with her. I remember her fondly as a person of whom meant a lot to my uncle. Are you acquainted with this person by any chance. I write stories of a dramatic & true nature & am thinking of including such memories in a novel that might one day come to life. I am thankful for any light you can bring to this subject.
Sincerely , Gary Hild

Re: Uncle
My uncle Hugo Hild, a farmer/rancher all of his life, spoke of Pola several times before he died in 87. His farm was in Converse, east of San Antonio. I have not been able to discover how he ever came to know her except that he once loved someone named Pola among the few ladies that he ever cared about. I suspect that it may have been a dream never fulfilled of a man whose real feelings were never realized. Your inquiry is appreciated & if I might help further, feel free to contact me at

Colleen Moore/King Vidor
Hi, Dominick. I was very interested to read that you knew Colleen Moore and King Vidor. Did you ever read the book "Cast of Killers" by Sidney Kirkpatrick? If not, I highly recommend it. It's about how Mr. Vidor solved the William Desmond Taylor murder, with a subtext of his romance with Miss Moore. How did you get to meet them? I agree that you were very blessed to have had that privilege.

Stan Marks
Hi Dominic:

Interestingly, I have a good friend, who makes miniatures.
She has a club, with members all over the U.S.
She lives in San Antonio.
If you would like her email address, let me know.

I've taken many trips, to Hearst's Castle, during the 60's & 70's.
I've done ALL the tours & have great slides of my visit.
When I lved in L.A., I would drive up the coast(Hwy 1).
My first wife & I spent our honeymoon (1965) at the old "Highlands Inn" in Carmel.

Stan Marks

Thanx Dom.

Glad you appreciated my little tribute.

Stanley was a caring guy.
Always put others before himself.
He also had some outstanding parties.
Great host...........

His cause of death (heart attack) is very unsettling to me.
I would love to speak with his family.

Love's Garden
There is a quiet garden,
From the rude world set apart,
Where seeds for Christ are growing;
This is the loving heart.

The tiny roots are loving thoughts;
Sweet words, the fragrant flowers
Which blossom into loving deeds,
Ripe fruits for harvest hours.

Thus in our hearts the seeds of love
Am growing year by year;
And we show our love for the Saviour,
By loving His children here.
