Infant dyke at Thurman
I walked the Thurman cemetery this afternoon. I found Amanda and Nathaniel Dyke's graves. They are right on a corner--very easy to see. Amanda has a stone with an inscription for her. Then when he died quite some years later, her name is inscribed on his stone with him as well. There is no stone for an infant daughter with them. As the baby died the day before her mother on January 30, 1884, do you suppose the baby was just included in her mother's casket with no inscription on the marker?

Sorry, I didn't find a grave marker for this baby.

Annie: In response to your request for photos, there is no cemetery at Rock Springs Congregational Church in Arlington, VA - only a Memorial Terrace where the ashes of Church members are interred after an appropriate ceremony. The Church does maintain bound volumes of basic information in chronological order - one page for each Church member interred in the Terrace. Clair's page is in Volume 2. I will email six photos. Let me know if there is anything else you need. Keep up the good work!! Ed Costello Find A Grave# 47588119

Hi Annie,
You are very welcome. Willamette has always been very good at responding to replace headstones when I've run across problems, and those problems have been few.

RE: Crispin photo
Hello Annie,
I've photographed the new, corrected grave marker for Chester & Cleo Crispin. The year of death for Cleo has been corrected to read 1965, and they added the words World War II. I uploaded the photo to both Chester's and Cleo's memorial page.

RE: Crispin photo
Hello Annie,
I advised the office at Willamette National Cemetery of the error in the year of death for Cleo J Crispin. They checked their records and found the company contracting to do the markers had made the error and they are placing an order for a new marker. I have a note to myself to return to the grave location in about 5 weeks and when a new marker is placed I will take a photo and upload to both Chester's and Cleo's memorial pages.

grave marker request CRISPIN
Hello Annie,
I took the grave marker photo for Chester CRISPIN, and his wife, Cleo, is also on the marker. I made a note in the photo caption section of the memorial regarding the year of death for her, in the caption section for both Cleo and Chester. The year on the marker isn't correct, as it reads 1966. The Oregon Death Index and the Funeral Notice in The Oregonian newspaper both shows she died in 1965. I will be advising Willamette National Cemetery of the error and hopefully they will have a new marker made with the correct year.

Brenda Hoopes Shipley
Henry Frank Spidell Family
My name is Brenda Hoopes Shipley. My Great Great Grandfather is Henry Franklin Spidell. You left me a message back in Dec. to add pictures to Marion and Rosa Evaline Clapper. I have not been on my message board for a while but had the thought to check it today. I noticed you have been commuicating with Flutter. He or she gave you 15 names of Spidell's in unmarked graves in the Thurman Cemetery. I have been trying to find them for a very long time. They are my family. They are Henry Spidell's parents, brothers and sister's and cousins.
I have a copy of the Thurman Cemetery Records that someone sent to me years ago. I was hoping to find my Spidell Family there but they are not listed in the records. I don't know why. I am working on putting the names that are not listed on find a grave into find a grave right now. Please contact me.
Thank You
Brenda Hoopes Shipley

RE: Spidell unmarked graves
I did send you all the Spidell names in the unmarked sec. at Thurman, but thought I would tell you that in the Tabor cemetery which is just a few miles from Thurman are the following Spidell graves. They are listed in my book, however, do not know if there is a stone there. If you want me to look and take a pic just request it it on Find A Grave I will see if they do have stones. Will be glad to help you any way I can, so you have let me know. Remember I am new to this.

RE: John Spidell, Jr. unmarked grave
There are 15 people with the last name of Spidell that are buried at the Thurman Cemetery. They are all buried in unmarked graves. Very unusual.
