the Cemeteries are next to one another. Hill Grove is by the church and Bear creek is around the corner but ran by the same people I will go in the office to verify.

RE: Mabel Coonrod
Hi Dan, Glad to meet you! First your questions:
You are correct in all cases. Mabel is an Austwick, and she married Roy Coonrod first and it appears he fathered Ivan before he died. Mabel then married John Truman Corder son of Francis Marion Corder who is son of Matthew Corder 1829-1901 who was son of Benjamin D. Corder 1765-1851 my ggg grandfather.

There is a question in my mind about Roy E. Coonrod's date of death of 1918. I found a Roy I. Coonrod in Ohio who was killed in Ross County Ohio on 23 Aug 1917. I suspect one of the middle initials is wrong, but no proof! I agree, Roy's 1853 birth date has got to be wrong. It Must be 1893; again no proof! I also don't know the dates of marriage in either case.

My gg grandfather was Joseph O. Corder 1823-abt 1879, brother to Matthew Corder 1829-1901. He and his family came to Macoupin County abt 1850 with another brother James and his family. James moved on to Missouri shortly after. Joseph stayed in Macoupin County. Matthew came down from Kentucky shortly thereafter. He and his family lived around Hettick, and Joseph lived between Girard and Palmyra. His son, James Benjamin also lived in the same area. Joseph died between 1877-1879. His wife was a widow in the 1880 census, and moved to Oklahoma with her daughter & family where she died. Never found Joseph's grave or death certificate, so I'm still looking. If your wife's side of the family has any records that would help, please let me know. My email is
Would be nice to keep in touch!

john adylotte smith memorial
Anna Elrod Smith was his spouse. However, she remarried and later died in Delavan WI in 1982. She is my husband's grandmother so I am sure that this is the correct anna elrod smith. I do not know who is the Anna Smith that you have listed as his spouse that died in 1939.

Kwist & Engle
I've been to the Kwist family gravesite at Highland. While it listed burials for Jannis W and his children there, none of them have headstones. He and Leona had twins who died within days of their birth and another son who died under two years of age. Jannis was close in age to my husband's grandfather Martin Cornelis Kwist and I have pictures of them, and I think Leona too at
