Your welcome. I hope all is well with you and yours. I donated the picture of the Denham Hotel that Sally Gee Pettus had given us for a wedding present to the museum in Goliad. I hope people there will enjoy seeing it.

Find A Grave Memorial# 5036604
Would you be able to transfer Andrew Thetford to me? His father was my great-grandfather's brother. My great-grandfather was Reason A. Thetford, Memorial# 79664390. I am trying to gather all the descendants of Dennis and Hester Thetford together and link them, however if a direct descendant of Andrew finds his memorial after it is transferred to me, I will be more than happy to transfer him into their hands.

Cemeteries of Goliad
"My primary interests are listing the cemeteries located in Goliad County, Texas."

I'm looking to locate a couple of RICHEY family burials in Goliad. I'm not asking for you to search, but I was thinking maybe you might keep a look out ... maybe someday you just might stumble across them. Or maybe you have some advice even. So far nothing has turned up for me and that might be because their graves went unmarked or stones were lost or damaged.

Grave #1: S. Callie WORD who married Alva Adison RICHEY in Goliad 1872. She had two boys and probably died sometime before 01 JUN 1880. On the 1880 census her son Will was living with his great uncle and family -- James M. WORD -- and her son Robert Del was living with a cousin -- J. H. PITTMAN. Also on the 1880 census her husband, Alva, was listed as a widower in a boarding house in Goliad.

S. Callie's husband, Alva RICHEY, and their sons Robert Del RICHEY and William Word RICHEY later moved to El Paso, Texas. Alva RICHEY died in 1902 and Robert Del RICHEY died 1945. Both are buried in El Paso.

Grave #2: the youngest boy, Will RICHEY, died in 1932. His death cert says his body was removed for burial to Goliad. I'm pretty sure he was taken home to be with Other family members -- like maybe his mother even. Will never married.

Anything at all is appreciated!

I think you're right but he may have worked for Braniff and then Eastern. My father had a friend that did that. I'm sure their paths crossed there.
Thanks for helping out and thanks for the work you do on Find A Grave.
P.S. I may send the article to your aunt with a short letter of explanation.

RE: Denhams in Goliad
I was going through an old scrapbook of my parents and found a wedding article for Margery Ruth Tally and Charles Ogden. They must have been important to my parents but I don't know their connections. My parents, Edwin and Jeanne Kramer met when they worked at Braniff Airlines in San Antonio, Tx. I'm wondering if your aunt has a copy of this wedding announcement. If she doesn't I could try to send it. If she does then it's not so urgent. Thanks for your help. (I searched her sister on Ancestry and found a Find A Grave listing for her and so found you!)

Oak Hill Cemetery
Hi Tom,

Wanted to thank you for all the volunteer work you have put into setting up the memorials for all our ancestors that are buried at Oak Hill and the other cemeteries in Goliad.

Also, I was wondering since you from the Goliad area do you know of any original records that may be available or that have been found from the Undertakers that provided services for Goliad County back in the late 1800s and early 1900s
because of the devastating tornado that destroyed so much at Oak Hill Cemetery, our Gibson Family plot has at least 7 grave sites that no longer have headstones, only markers letting us know someone is buried there and I am looking for any records that might shed some light on exactly who is buried there.

KINDest regards,

Nancy Hickman

RE: Laura Milde
Good to hear from you Tom. I am working with the Goliad County death records now and found this one. One of their daughters died at Rusk State Hospital and is buried there.

There may be others that I find that are buried in Oak Hill that have no gravestones now, but I will add them and make links as I can.

Best regards,

RE: Updates

I think there may be more. I was in Goliad earlier this year and photographed the articles that I sent you from the microfilm of the old newspapers. I haven't quite finished posting the information and am going back in October. However, the archives room may be closed then for renovation. That remains to be seen.

RE: Oak Hill Cemetery
Thanks for your message, Tom.
No please do not transfer Dr. Getzwiller's memorial to me. I will be happy to e-mail the information I've found to you. I am only interested in writing what I can about the Gorman family, in this case Helen Gorman, widow of the good doctor. As you probably understand, it is so easy to sidetrack into other interesting people and stories that constantly influenced or were influenced by their lives.
More by e-mail later.

Thanks, Tom!
Tom, Thank you for posting the pictures of the tombstones of Helen (Gorman) Getzwiller and her sister Lula (Gorman) Peck. Thanks also for making available the photos and information of Helen's husband Dr. Joseph Getzwiller.
I do have a question, which I will try to e-mail to you.
We have not been able to locate a marker for Nancy (Gibson) Gorman, who died 08 December 1850 in the Goliad home of her son William S. Gorman (1817-1882). She was also mother of Nancy (Gorman) Tippen (abt. 1816-1890), wife of John Tippen (1825-1880) of Goliad.
If anyone has any clue as to where William Gorman and Nancy Tippen buried their mother, her descendants would be very grateful.
