If you can call Calvary Cemetery (323)261-3106 for the grave location I will get the photo for you! Do not email because they will not reply. I would call for you but Since I am probably the only regular active volunteer there I have made many many calls to them for locations and they are very annoyed with me.

Re: John Whiteford at Valhalla Cemetery
Hi Melissa,

My friend (USC Girl) and I have searched the entirety of Valhalla Cemetery 4 times and have not found John Whiteford. Would you please call the office and verify he has a headstone and the exact location of his burial? Without this information he may never be found. This is a very poorly maintained cemetery. I had to have a headstone for another requester dug out from under 3" of grass a few days ago.

If he does not have a headstone, but you would like a picture of the area and gps coordinates I'm happy to do that for you.

Hi Melissa, you're very welcome.

Is there something I could try to help you find?

If you would call Valhalla and get her location I would be happy to go take a photo for you.
I have found the office there not helpful if you are not family or perhaps just not helpful in general.
There are areas of the cemetery where the gravestones are buried under several inches of dirt and grass!

You're welcome. Always happy to find and foto requests.

John Whiteford Grave photo
I live near Valhalla and have done some photos there. Today, I was advised that, you, as a family member must email Valhalla Pierce Brothers North Hollywood and ask them to search for the plot for you...providing you with the area, curb number and plot number....then you can email it to me and I can then go photograph it. They wont search it for me....
if you can do this and get a response, message me the info, and I will go and photograph it.
Sorry, I tried,
Sonny Southworth

Hi Melissa - I've added a photo of the general area where Frederick Bennett is buried. There's several large spots without markers - I'm sure that's where he must be. I double checked the area again with no success but at least you can see what it looks like nearby him. Happy New Year! Jim

Rose Edith Jones Chay
Hello again Melissa, I'm going to poke around the cemetery looking for Rose. I just asked the memorial creator to correct her middle name (not Edity). Most likely he will transfer to me - if so, would you like to manage her? If he does transfer her, I'll add her maiden name Jones first.

Anytime you see the following findagrave "names" you can be sure we almost always saw the grave in person as we walked through the cemetery - James Seidelman, TLS, Romper90069 and yours truly. When a volunteer says they can't find a grave and it was created by one of us, it usually means they overlooked it. In less than 1/10 of 1 percent of the time - we may create a memorial with a typo. (Not!)Well, not me, I'm perfect! Ooops, another senior moment! Jim

You're welcome! After I sent the grave location info to the memorial's creator he asked if I might take a general photo showing the area where Frederick Bennett should be buried. I'll be back in the cemetery in about 10 days and I'll take and post a photo. Jim

I'm one of those people who cleans her space once I've completed the work and acknowledged the response. Sorry if I confused you.

The GM is a great place -- my not stop your brain from going, but if you get enough exercise there your body will be the last thing to go ...

How's that saying go, life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. I get those a lot at Forest Lawn.

The messages can only be deleted by the contributor whose page they are left on, so don't worry about that, I will clear them.

I am way too young to be having senior moments but I too have had my share, they happen to us all, young or old, so all we can do is grin and bear it ...

Before I update your suggestion, I want to be absowootwee certain because I'm positive that the embedded gold-colored rectangular plate in the marble floor at each entrance to that section (similarly as to other areas in the GM) which designates the COTD has the Gladiola Terrace name embossed underneath. I jotted that down quite some time ago on my own personal FL celebrities list when I initially compiled it. Unless the name was "eliminated" by good ol' FL. Maybe the Art Guide could confirm it?...

I was so disappointed that you removed the photo.. I would ask that you please re post the photo. It makes the page complete. You are worrying unnecessarily about copyright issues. Thanks. Brent

How did you happen to have the Ester Factor photo since she died so long ago. Thanks for posting it. Are you related? I have been documenting all 700 graves in the cemetery where she is buried.
