Charles Blevins was 61 years old. He is a father of 3, husband of 42 years, and Vietnam Veteran. I am the youngest of the three children. The middle child, Tammy Elizabeth Blevins, passed away at a young age of 5 wks and 5 days. His oldest son lives in Texas.

About a year ago, dad was diagnosed with Colorectal cancer. Surgery to remove the cancerous tissue was successful and he had radiation treatments and chemotherapy as a preventive measure.

Although cancer free, he spend almost the last 6 weeks of his life in the hospital. They found a blockage in his intestines, which resulted from the radiation treatments. It took two surgeries to remove the blockage. Unfortunately, his body was not strong enough to recover from this surgery so soon after receiving chemo and radiation. This was especially difficult because his condition really seemed to get better for some time. He was on a ventilator for a little over 2 weeks and developed double pnuemonia during that time.

Being the youngest and the only girl, I was daddy's little girl. He meant the world to me and I will miss him terribly. He passed away the day before his 42nd Wedding Anniversary with my mom. My brother, who lives in Texas was able to spend the last week with him before his passing. His two young grandchildren barely understand what all of this means, but they know they will miss paw-paw and will see him in heaven one day.

We all take comfort in knowing that he has been joined with his mother, Mary Stockman, his daughter, Tammy Elizabeth, and many other relatives who have gone on before him.
