EAST DUBUQUE, Ill. -- Randall E. "Randy" Williams, 63, of 208 Iroquois Trail, East Dubuque, died Saturday morning, July 3, 2010, at home after losing his battle with cancer.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, at Miller Funeral Home, 1185 IL Route 35 N., East Dubuque, where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by members of the Dubuque Marine Corps League.

He was born on April 24, 1947, in Dubuque, son of William E. and Sylvia (Cooper) Williams.

Randy was a veteran of the Army, serving during the Vietnam War.

He was a timber buyer and was formerly employed by Krapfl Logging, Beatty Logging and Bill Miller Logging.

Randy loved to fish, collect antiques, enjoyed racing, gardening and everything to do with the outdoors. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and extended family. During Randy's life, he felt honored to fulfill the role of fatherhood for his nieces and nephews after the tragic death of his brother, Steve.

Surviving are his life partner, Carol Gleichner; four sons, Randy (Shelly) Williams, of Dubuque, Chad (Angie) Williams, of North Liberty, Iowa, Jude (Laura) Redenbaugh, of Johnson Creek, Wis., and Craig (Sue) Redenbaugh, of La Crosse, Wis.; 18 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; his mother, Sylvia Williams, of Dubuque; two sisters, Rose (Dan) Nugteren, of O'Fallon, and Sue (Ed) Horne, of Greeley, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother, Steve Williams.
