Sr Paula Healy SMSM

Sr Paula, of Waltham, entered eternal life peacefully in the loving arms of God on Saturday October 20th, 2012 at Bethany Health Center in Framingham after a long illness at the age of 101.

Born on May 22, 1911 in Scituate, Massachusetts, Sister was the daughter of the late John Healy and Hannah Hourihan, both of County Cork, Ireland. Sister was from a family of seven girls and three boys. Sister was pre-deceased by six of her siblings.

Sister entered the Marist Missionary Sisters on August 2, 1941 in Bedford MA, and made her profession on February 2, 1944. In 1946 sister made her departure for her new mission in the Fiji Islands. Sister worked in many of the mission areas teaching and making use of her artistic abilities as a painter. Sister was very artistic and did some beautiful art work.

In 1990 sister was assigned to the North American Province and was stationed in Tampa, Florida. Sister returned to 62 Newton St community in 1994 to celebrate her Golden Jubilee. Due to poor health Sister left Tampa to return to 62 Newton St, w here, she kept herself busy with art and painting. In 2003 Sister was admitted to Bethany Health Care Center where she died after a long illness.

Sister leaves her sisters, Sr Barbara Healy SF, Mrs Catherine Green, and her brother Mr Richard Healy, nieces and nephews, many friends and her loving community of Marist Missionary Sisters.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Resurrection in celebration of Sister Paula Healy's Life in the Marist Missionary Sisters Residence on Friday Oct. 26th at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Marist Missionary Sisters Lot at St Patrick's Cemetery in Watertown. Visiting Hours will be held at the Marist Missionary Sisters Residence, 62 Newton Street, WALTHAM On Thursday Oct. 25th from 2:00-5:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the: Marist Missionary Sisters, 349 Grove St, Waltham MA. 02354-6018.
