UPLAND — Norma Helen Briner, 82, passed away at 4:19 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in The Indiana Heart Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on Tuesday, December 31, 1929, in Wabash, Indiana to Charles and Esther (Salzman) Scott. Norma graduated from the Marion High School -Class of 1948. She married Wayne Briner on Saturday, August 26, 1950 in Wabash, Indiana.

Norma was a Deacon member of the Van Buren Central Christian Church, Van Buren, Indiana, and a life long resident of Grant County. She was president of the Hanna Circle, and the loyal Workers Class at the church and was also a Van Buren Red Hatters Club member.

Survivors include her sons, Daryl (Lynda) Briner, Gas City, Danny Briner, Missouri, David (Cindy) Briner, Broken Arrow, Okla.; daughters, Marsha (William) Nicodemus, Marion, Paula Shepherd, Upland; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Joe (Bridget) Scott, New Mexico; sister, Gladys Pinks, Valparaiso; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Scott; mother, Esther (Salzman) Scott; husband, Wayne Briner; grandson, Randolph Pool; brothers, David Scott, Wilfred Scott, Charles Scott.

A service to celebrate Norma's life will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2012 in Van Buren Central Christian Church, 108 S. First Street, Van Buren, Indiana with the Pastor Heath Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Marion National Cemetery in Marion.

Arrangements are being handled by Ferguson & Glancy Funeral Home in Van Buren.
