Mrs. E. L. Carver, Resident for 22 years, Passes Away

Remains laid to Rest in Greenwood Cemetery July 21--Was Almost 90 years old

Mrs. E. L. Carver, a resident of Sauk Centre and vicinity for 22 years, died at the home of her Daughter, Mrs. A. Willet, Akeley, Minn., July 20, 1927.
Bridget Matilda Mooney was born in Litchfield, Ohio, Aug. 8, 1837. When was a child her parents moved to Wisconsin where she was united in marriage to Aliphatic Carver, April 17, 1863. Eleven Children were born to this union, six of whom are living. They are: Joseph Carver, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Mary Skillings, Park Rapids, Minn.; Mrs. E. A. Brayton, Dear River, Minn,; Perry Carver, Granite City, Ill.: Mrs. A. Willett, Akeley, Minn.; Jay Carver, Craigville, Minn.
Funeral services were held at the Willet home Wednesday, July 20. The remains "were brought to Sauk Centre Thursday and laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery beside those of Mr. Carver who passed away March 31, 1918. Elder Williams of Detroit, Minn., conducted the funeral services.
Many of the early settlers of this community will remember Mr. and Mrs. Carver. Besides the six children mentioned above there are 37 grandchildren, 81 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren. Two of the children, Joseph and Perry Carver were unable to be present at the funeral. The out of town relatives attending were: Mrs. Mary Skillings and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Skillings, Park Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Horace Jackson, Mrs. J. A. Juno, and Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Brayton, Deer River; Mrs. Phil Pronox and Mrs. Murphy of Longville, Minn.; Jay Carver and son of Craigville.
Mrs. Carver was ill for seven weeks and death was caused by old age.


CIVIL WAR WIDOW PASSES
Mrs. Bridget M. Carver, aged 90 years, passed away Monday evening at 8:30, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alex Willet, death being due to old age. Mrs. Carver was a grand old lady and had lived a good and useful life. Services were held from the Willet home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 and the remains taken to Sauk Centre for burial beside her late husband, who was a veteran of the Civil War. She was born in Ohio in 1837, and married E. Carver, April 17, 1853.
