"Cornersburg - Residents of this community express sympathy to the Kern family in the death of Mrs. Lucy Kern of Kirk Road. She was one of the oldest members of the Methodist church here."
"Mrs. Lucy B. Kern, 80, died of a cerebral hemorrhage Saturday morning at her home on Kirk Road, Austintown township. Born in Armstrong county, Penna., April 15, 1879, she was a daughter of J. A. and Eliza Jane Cousins, and most of her life was spent in Austintown township. She was a member of the West Austintown Methodist church, and Woman's Society of Christian Service of the church. Her husband, William H. Kern, died in 1940. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Amy K. Siersdorfer, Mrs. Bessie Krause, Mrs. Brunetta Cramer, Mrs. Leah Davis and Miss Nettie Kern, all of Austintown twp.; two sons, John J. of Youngstown and William H., at home; three sisters, Mrs. B. T. McHenry of New Kensington, Pa., Mrs. James Everett of Blairsville, Pa., and Mrs. Harry Roberts of Cincinnati; a brother, Dunn Cousins of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services, with the Rev. George Glock officiating, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Shriver-Allison N. S. Funeral Home, and burial made in the Cornersburg Methodist cemetery."
