Leon L. Huisman, 76, Herald, Calif., died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at Herald.

He was born to Sam and Harmka Huisman on Jan. 6, 1934, in Barron County, Wis. Leon married Jocelyn (Joyce) Klevegard on Jan. 6, 1955, at Durand. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary 11 days before his death.

Leon and Joyce moved to California with four small children in January 1962. Two daughters and a son were born in California. They lived in the Galt and Lodi, Calif., areas before settling on their ranch in Herald, Calif., in 1968. Leon's occupations were ranching, raising poultry, bricklaying and for the past 41 years, sales with Shaklee Corporation.

Leon enjoyed collecting and restoring old farm tractors.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughters Rita (Gordy) Stringfield, Adelle (Scott) Norcross, Sonja (Dan) Smith-Tarnasky, Marilyn (Randy) Alcoriza, Karen (Dan) Nelson and Laurie (Sven) Bergh; a son Leslie (Beth); and grandchildren Nicole (Patrick) Norcross Walker, Dareck (Courtney) Stringfield, Shiloh (Brian) Norcross Wester, Denley (Juli) Stringfield, Gabriel Norcross, Joni (Laddu) Stringfield Dorsanjh, Tyler (Andrea) Alcoriza, Shara Norcross, Jared Stringfield, Brittney Alcoriza, Danielle Smith, Marissa Alcoriza, Colter (Casey) Bergh, Kaitlin (Tyler) Nelson Snow, Dustin Norcross, Brady Nelson, Sarina Smith, Blake Bergh, Hannah Nelson and Taylor Bergh.

Leon is also survived by great-grandchildren Morgan, Courtney and Sierra Wester, Garett and Grace Walker, Madeline and August Stringfield, Charlie Bergh and Bailey Alcoriza; a sister Ellyn (Leon) Naef; sisters-in-law, Norma Huisman Hunt and Rosie Huisman; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Geneva Young; and brothers Wendel, Freeman and Edmond.
