Chester Stallins, 73, died at his home near Dawson Springs Friday morning August 25. He had been in failing health for several years.
Mr. Stallins was a life long resident of Caldwell County. In early years he served as a section foreman for the ICRR until bad health forced retirement. He was a member of Beulah Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Elsie Glass Stallins; three daughters, Mrs. Aaron Nichols, Mrs. Eugene Young, and Mrs. James Orange, all of Caldwell County; five sons, Vernon Stallins, Caldwell County, G. W. Stallins of St. Louis, Missouri, Louard Stallins of Evansville, Indiana, Doward Stallins of Hendersonville, and Joel Dean Stallins of Hopkinsville; a foster son, Roy Karnes of Ashville, Tennessee; one brother, Luther Stallins, Princeton; two half-sisters, Mrs. Mable Jennings and Mrs. Delcie Campbell, both of Princeton; 20 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at Morgan's Funeral Home with the Rev. John Washburn officiating. Burial was in Cross Roads Cemetery.
