"Clayton F. Babcock, 82, husband of Margaret M. Babcock, of 111 Hamilton Homes, died early Tuesday evening in Oswego Hospital where he had been admitted earlier that day. Born in Oswego, he was the son of Orville and Harriet Garlock Babcock. Serving with Company D, 108th Infantry in World War I he was a purple heart veteran and charter member of Lavere-Harrington Post 2320, V.F.W., and Dad of Foreign Service Veterans. He had served as club steward at the V.F.W. Post home before retirement. For 25 years he was a machinist with St. Regis Paper Company. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters Mrs. Georgeanne Conley of Oswego and Mrs. Raymond (Doris) Jennings of Elizabeth, N. J.; four sons, Robert of Raleigh, N. C., Francis of Glen Oaks, Henry O., a member of Oswego City Fire Department, and Leo, also of Oswego; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held Friday at 8:30 a.m. at the Dowdle Funeral Home and at 9 in St. Peter's Church with burial in St. Peter's Cemetery ..." [Palladium Times (Oswego, NY), Wed., May 31, 1978, p. 2]
