Ruth Beckstead died at her home. She was born to Sophie Ann and John Miller Layland and attended elementary school in Cokeville, WY. The family later moved to Idaho Falls, where Ruth graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1964. In 1967 Ruth married Garl Beckstead in Idaho Falls, and they were later divorced. Following high school, Ruth became a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at the Idaho Falls Clinic. She also worked for many years as a waitress at the Westbank Coffee Shop and Restaurant, and at Joshua Smith Foundation. She was an active member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church serving as Eucharistic Minister. She was survived by a sister and a brother [names deleted]. She was preceded by her parents and brothers Larry Layland and John Michael Layland. Graveside Services held July 9, 2005, and Memorial Mass in her honor said Friday, November 4, 2005, at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church.
