Estelle W. Holewa of Fox Lake for 31 years

A Catholic funeral Mass for Estelle W. Holewa (nee Maliszewski), 85, formerly of Chicago, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, at St. Bede Catholic Church, 36455 N. Wilson Rd., Ingleside.

Born May 8, 1918, in Detroit, the daughter of Anton and Mary (nee Zak) Malizewski, she died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, in her home. Burial will follow the Mass in Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville.

Estelle was a former employee with Intermatic Manufacturing Co. in Spring Grove, and was a longtime member of St. Bede Catholic Church in Ingleside. She enjoyed shopping, babysitting for her grandson, crocheting, reading, and enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and pets.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Yvonne) Holewa of Bartlett; her daughter, Wanda Baglio of Fox Lake, with whom she made her home; her grandchildren, Michael (Denise) Baglio of McHenry, Denise (Kim) Zehr of Elgin and Deborah (Joe) Epps of Elgin; her great grandchildren, Michael, Maximillian, Mario, Rafael and Joey; her brother, Wallace (Lee) Maliszewski of Chicago; and by her sister, Helen Karakula of Detroit.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter M. Holewa on Mar. 19, 1993; her parents; by four brothers, Mike, John, Walter and Stan; and by her sister, Frances.

Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at the K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home, 12 N. Pistakee Lake Rd. (The Chapel on the Lake, 1 block west of Rt. 12, 1/2 block north of Grand Ave.), Fox Lake.
