AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Carl Bogle "Red" Whitfield, 80, husband of Phoebe Haley Whitfield entered into rest on Thursday, February 24, 2005 at University Hospital.

Funeral services will be in the chapel of Hatcher, Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors on Sunday, February 27, 2005 at 3:00 P.M. with Reverends Jerry Wilson, Tony Christie and Dr. James L. Adkins.

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Other survivors include his sons, Dan Whitfield and his wife, Belinda and David Whitfield and his wife, Debbie, all of Martinez; one sister, Azilee Wheat of Dalton; four grandchildren, David Whitfield, Jr., Lisa Whitaker, Scott Whitfield and Stephen Whitfield and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Whitfield was born in Dalton, GA to the late Carl D. and Zessie Brindle Whitfield.

He retired from Pilot Freight Carriers and Whitfield Azalea Nursery and was a member of Central Baptist Church and the Georgia Nurserymen Associati on and a former member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Hatcher, Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, Augusta, GA.
