Beulah M. Hamblet, 55, of Tahlequah died Tuesday, November 28, 1978, at Coweta, Oklahoma. Services were held Friday at 1 p.m. in Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel with Reverend Max Squyres officiating. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery at Hulbert. Pallbearers were Arlis Moss, Dee Smith, Cecil Watkins, Louie Hayes, Cecil Wilkinson and Ray Moss.
Born February 28, 1923 in Tulsa County, she had been a Cherokee County resident since 1942. In past years, she was active in church work. She was an artist and had taught art. The past few years, she and her husband, Leo, traveled across the United States setting up art shows and exhibits.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Harold McMillen of Hulbert and Steven McMillen of Tulsa; two daughters, Cynthia Warden of Coweta and Maria Matlock of Hulbert; four brothers, Charlie Gifford of Wellston, California, John Gifford of Tahlequah, Isaac Gifford of Hulbert and Paul Gifford of Tulsa; two sisters, Rachel Mitchell and Maxine Fillers, both of Tulsa, and three grandchildren.
