A son of Mr. and Mrs. Anderson Chandler, pioneer residents of the county, he obtained his early education in the public schools, and later attended the Old Normal School at Marble Hill, then secured his medical education at the old St. Louis College of Physicians and Surgeons. He had practiced in Lutesville 50 years.
Member of the board of directors of the Bollinger County Bank serving as president for 27 years until his death. Member of the Lutesville school board and town board, member of the board of trustees of the Presbyterian Church, former coroner of Bollinger County, member of the County Selective Service board the draft board during the first World War.
Active Mason, member Lutesville lodge and Scottish Rite, being a 32nd degree Mason, and of the York Rite of the order.
Member of the Southeast Missouri Medical Association; affiliated with the Missouri and American Medical Associations; dean of Bollinger County physicians.
Married Katie Bollinger Feb. 27, 1887.
