OLD SOLDIER DIES AT BEAUVOIR HOME
J.S.(sic) Bullock, Living for Some Time on Back Bay, Dies of Chronic Organic Heart Trouble.
Biloxi, July 21-
J. S.(sic) Bullock, and old soldier, died this morning at 6 o'clock at the Beauvoir Soldiers' Home, aged 81 years. Death was due to chronic organic heart trouble, Bright's disease and the infirmities incident to old age.
Mr. Bullock had never married. He served in the southern cause in the war of the states, having joined the army at the outbreak of the civil war. Although a native of Alabama he had lived in Mississippi for the last sixty years.
Mr. Bullock entered the old soldiers' home two weeks ago. Previously he had lived with Mrs. Felix Fountain, a niece, on the Back Bay.
The body will be sent to Mrs. Fountain's home where the funeral will be held. Complete arrangements have not yet been made but he will probably be buried tomorrow and interment will take place in the Coalville cemetery at Woolmarket.
Mr. Bullock is survived by one brother, Wiley G. Bullock (buried in Bosarge Cemetery), living at Seymour. He is also survived by a large number of nephews and nieces, two of whom reside in Biloxi. His nieces and nephews are as follows; Mrs. Joseph Fountain, 909 Main street, this city; Mrs. Louisa Forgoness, Charter street, this city; Mrs. Katie Fountain, Mrs. Charles Seymour, Miss Annie Saucier, Mrs. William Page, all of Seymour; and Frank, Joe, and Willie Saucier of Seymour, Mrs. Felix Fountain of Back Bay and Miss Frances Meyers of Larue.
Mr. Bullock was a member of the M.E. Church, South, of Coalville, and belonged to the Masonic lodge at Handsboro.
Mr. Bullock served in the Ninth Mississippi Cavalry under Gen. Samuel W. Ferguson of Biloxi.
