The funeral services for J. E. Banks, who died yesterday of pneumonia, will be held privately Sunday afternoon at one-thirty o'clock at the family residences on East Fifth Street. Members of the Ellensburg Camp, Modern Woodmen of America, of which Mr. Banks was Venerable Counsel, will have charge of the services at the cemetery, Mr. Banks was also a member of the local Elks and Moose lodges.
Surviving Mr. Banks are his wife, who is also ill, and two children, Margaret, nearly four, and Johnny, who will be three in May. Also his mother, Mrs. L. Banks of Pasco; a sister, Mrs. Barney Cunningham, also of Pasco, and a brother, K. D. Banks of Bremerton. They are all in Ellensburg today.
Mr. Banks came to the Kittitas Valley more than 11 years ago. He has been engaged in business at Ephrata, Roslyn, and Cle Elum, and also taught school at District No. 5 when he first came to Ellensburg. Last June with W. G. Lauderdale, he opened the "B and L." Boot Shop on Pearl Street.
The deceased was born at Loraine, Illinois, September 15, 1886. Five years ago he married Miss Julia Cahoon, who was born and raised on Reecer Creek.
