The Arizona Daily Star, 8 April 2012, Easter
Charles Bergen Mansur, "Peter" passed away peacefully at home on the morning of March 29, 2012 at the age of 92.

Born August 24, 1919 in Highland Park, Illinois he moved to Tucson in 1935. After graduating from Tucson High, he attended the University of Arizona (Kappa Sigma) where he met his wife, Mary Thom "Honey". They were married in Wausau, Wisconsin in 1943 just before he enlisted in the US Army.

Serving in the Pacific Theater with the 184th Infantry Regiment of the 7th Division in the Southern Philippines and Ryukyus Campaigns, he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the Purple Heart for wounds received in Okinawa on May 5, 1945.

After WWII he and his brother, Mort operated Falvey's Feed and Supply in Tucson and then opened Western Wholesale Nursery, which Peter ran until he retired.

A lifelong U of A fan, Peter also enjoyed horse racing at Rillito Park, playing the piano and summers spent at the Mansur family cottage on Lake Darling in Alexandria, Minnesota. He and Mary moved to Prescott in 1984 to relax and play golf.

Preceded in death by his two brothers, Mort and David.

Another WWII Veteran is gone forever with peace and honor.

At his request no services are being held. Those wishing to make a monetary donation may do so in his memory to Good Samaritan Hospice Compassionate Care Fund, 1065 Ruth Street, Prescott, AZ 86301. To our favorite puzzle lover: HeaPeterven! Arrangements by ARIZONA RUFFNER WAKELIN FUNERAL HOME.
