Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Edgar Fletcher, age 83, of Jefferson, who died Sunday, Feb. 22nd after an extended illness.
He was born on May 3, 1920 in Jackson County to the late Mr. Marion Fletcher and the late Eunice Davis Fletcher. He was retired assemblyman with General Motors, a retired farmer, and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He was a member of the Cave Springs Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a past Sunday School Superintendent. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Annie Lou Wright Fletcher.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at 2 P.M. in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Revs. Tom Lewis, Gerald Mitton, Chad Rising, Mark Spence officiating. The burial will be in the Jackson Memorial Park, Commerce. Serving as pallbearers will be Pat Fletcher, Douglas Roig, Ray Fletcher, John Fletcher, Russ Fletcher, Zac Fletcher, and Ryan Fletcher. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the funeral home.
Survivors include sons, Harold and Guynelle Fletcher, Jefferson, Jerry and Brenda Fletcher, Pendergrass, Larry and Cathy Fletcher, Commerce, Charles and Cheryl Fletcher, Talmo; daughter, Linda Stalker, Athens; sisters, Velner Echols, Winder, Geraldine Mathis, Jefferson, Sarah Cofield, Jefferson, Geneva Weldon, Commerce, and Ferral Allen, Commerce; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grand children also survive.
