Birth: May 25, 1839, Germany
Death: Feb. 23, 1909
Fort Wayne
Allen County

surname is seen both as Keintz and Keinz
Father of the Fort Wayne City Band

"The father of Phillip Keintz died at Chicago yesterday. The funeral will take place at that city to-morrow." (The Fort Wayne Sentinel; Friday, June 30, 1876)

Philip came to Ft. Wayne in Nov. 1871 after his family lost all their belongings in the great Chicago fire. The only thing he was able to save was twelve pounds of music and a horn. He came to Ft. Wayne because a relative, John Wessel, Sr. of Hanna street, was living here. (See The Fort Wayne Sentinel; May 6, 1905, p. 12) Note: John Wessel was married to Elizabeth Keintz.

Philip Kinz(sic) purchased a coffin for a child on Aug. 6, 1873 (Peltier Mortuary Sales)
