Clara B. Akers Bailey

VANDALIA, Ohio — Clara B. Bailey, age 81, of Vandalia, Ohio, passed away Monday, March 3, 2008 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

Clara was a retired sales associate with Rike Kumbler Department Store after 25 years of service, a member of Huber Heights First Baptist Church and active with Happy Hearts group, also active with the Classic's at Vandalia First Baptist.

Born March 19, 1926 in Matoaka, she was a daughter of William Edward Akers and Lala Pearl Bailey Akers.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Aldous Huxley Bailey in 2000.

Clara is survived by her daughter, Susan F. Lewis of Vandalia, Ohio; son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Sheri L. Bailey of Michigan; grandchildren, Aimee, Jacqueline and Benjamin; sisters, Lillian Bishop of Virginia and Jean Calvert of Columbus, Ohio; brothers, Trevor Akers of Troy, Ohio and David Akers of West Virginia; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008 at Marker & Heller Funeral Home, 5844 Old Troy Pike, Huber Heights, Ohio with Pastor Linda Davis. Interment will follow at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens in Brookville, Ohio.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1 p.m. until service time.
