In 1885 they were living in the New Mexico Territory and recorded in a census there: W. M. Henderson (65, b. TX), wife Winifred (52, b. GA), single son Richard (10, b. AR) and son Robert Lee (14, b. TX); and a married son, John C. Henderson (24, b. MS) and his wife, Susan C. (22, b. TX), and John's first two sons, Everett (b. 1882 Texas) and Andrew Franklin Henderson (b. 1885 New Mexico). They were farming and raising livestock in 1885.
John C. Henderson had married Susie C. Wilson in Lampasas, Texas around 1882 and had son Everett in 1883 before moving to New Mexico, where second son Frank was born in 1885. They returned to Texas by 1900 and were living in Taylor, Texas, but then returned once again to Deming, New Mexico by 1910. Susan died between 1910 and 1920 and John and two children still at home moved to Gorman, Eastland, Texas where he worked as a laborer during the oil boom in that county. In 1930 he was living in Chandler, Maricopa, Arizona with his married daughter, Maggie Henderson Choate, and her two children still at home.
John then moved to California where several of his children, including Maggie, had moved as well. He died in San Bernardino in 1936.
Burial was Oct. 21, 1936
