ANOTHER OLD SETTLER GONE
James Martin, or as he was called by his neighbors, "Uncle Jimmy Martin," was born in Virginia in 1820, July 3, and in early life moved to Hocking county, Ohio, and in 1846 came to Wells county and settled in Nottingham township, where he lived until March 27 when he was called away from us. On Sunday, the 29th, a large concourse of his friends and neighbors met at the home to pay their last respects. Funeral services by the writer. Uncle Jimmy was one of the pioneers and witnessed the development of our county from a forest to its present condition.
