Services for Alton Louis Harveston Sr., of Brookhaven, are 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burial in Union Hall Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Harveston, 74, died Feb. 14, 2009, at Countrybrook Living Center. He was born on Nov. 11, 1934, to Fred William Harveston and Mamie Eugenia Furr.

He retired from Heavy Equipment and Safety H2S. He was of the Baptist faith. He always enjoyed getting a crowd together and playing music, even after he went into the nursing home, he would play and sing for them.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Fred William Harveston and Mamie Eugenia Harveston; his son, Glynn Harveston, who was born on Sept. 21, 1971, passed away on Dec. 20, 1973, and was laid to rest at Rosetta Cemetery; his brothers, U.S. Harveston Sr., Wilfred Harveston and Willard "Jack" Harveston; and his sisters, Lola Bert Dunn, Mary Nell Maxwell, Mattie Foster, Kathryn McCloud and Thelma Alice "Bobby" Hughes.

Survivors are his son, Alton Louis Harveston Jr.; his daughter, Lynn Harveston Jordan and husband, Billy; his sister, Betty Ann Ellis; six grandchildren; and his special niece, Sherry Sellers.
