ALFORD FUNERAL SLATED FRIDAY
Funeral services for Rufus E. Alford, 71-year-old Spanish-American War veteran who died at Veteran’s Hospital Thursday, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Lamar & Smith Funeral Chapel, 800 West Jefferson.
Alford, a resident of Dallas for twenty-nine years, served three years in the Philippines during the Spanish-American War.
He was born in Freestone County and worked as a salesman until his retirement in 1943.
Surviving are a son. L.W. Alford, a daughter, Mrs. Hughes Rue, Dallas; two sisters, Mrs. L.A. Roberts and Mrs. Thomas Bates of Waco.
Pallbearers will be Paul R. Kelly, Roy Robertson, Lewis McMahan, L.D. Bayles, R.E. Phillips and Joe Johnson.
