Margaret "Maggie" Daffinson

Margaret "Maggie" Daffinson, age 57, of 605 Floral Ave. Wausau died Friday May 14, 2010 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

She was born on Feb. 28, 1953 in Fond du Lac, to Alma (Horst) Schmahl and the late William Schmahl. She attended the UW Fond du Lac Campus and received her Bachelor's Degree at UW Oshkosh. She received her Masters Degree from UW Stevens Point. Maggie married Michael Daffinson on Aug. 9, 1995 in Loveland, CO. She was an award winning early childhood special education teacher in the Marathon County Birth to Three Program and the Wausau School District Early Childhood Program for over 35 years, most recently at the A.C. Kiefer Early Childhood Center. She touched the lives of hundreds of children who loved their "Miss Maggie".

Maggie was on the Board of Directors for the Community Ballet Program, member of WEAC and the Wausau School District Equity Committee as well as many other committees that served children and quality education.

Maggie loved having fun, always the life of the party. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, going to their cabin, shopping, cheering for the Green Bay Packers, and she adored her cat, Lucy.

Survivors include her husband, Michael, Wausau; son, Larry Daffinson, Wausau; mother, Alma Schmahl, Fond du Lac; brother, Peter (Sara) Schmahl, Fond du Lac; sister, Linda (Martin) Holzschuh, Twin Lake, MI; mother-in-law, Rae Daffinson (Arlen Ostreng); father-in-law, Larry Daffinson; sister-in-law Linda (Dan) Zanter and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father.

A celebration of Maggie's life will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. at the Brainard Funeral Home 522 Adams St. Wausau. Rev. John Roseth of St. Andrew Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery, Brices Prairie, WI where Pastor Scott Skogen of North Presbyterian Church will officiate. Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday and again from 3:00 until the time of service at the funeral home on Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Wisconsin, 16655 W. Bluemound Rd. Suite 240, Brookfield, WI 53005-5935 or a teaching Scholarship for the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, 2100 Main St. Stevens Point, WI 54481-3897, for students enrolled in Early Childhood Special Education.
