Services for James Lewallen were held at the First Baptist Church. He died after suffering a stroke at his home.
Flower girls were granddaughters - Betty Lewallen, Oralee Tatum, Naomi Lyon, Inez Lyon, Ruth Lyon, Thelma Lewallen, Bonnie Lewallen, Fronie Reedy, Retha Lyon.
James Monroe Lewallen married Miss Winnie Parker of Bell County on 4 September 1898.
Survived by sons and daughters - William H., Raymond L., James Aaron, Vernon Monroe, I.B. and Alvin Evan Lewallen; Mrs. Ruby Lyon, Mrs. Arlin Echols; 39 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters - Mrs. W.D. Aycock and Mrs. Charles Baker
James Monroe Lewallen moved to Seymour with his family in 1907. He was a good citizen. He was converted and united with the Methodist Chruch. He later joined the Baptist Church.
Grandsons were pallbearers: Truman Lewallen, Kenneth Lewallen, W.A. Lewallen, Wayne Lewallen, Wilmer Lee Lyon, Floyd Lyon.
