William was born in Aurora,ILL,before the
Druschel Family made Joliet their home.
"Billy loved playing baseball.He started play
-ing when he was very young,and went from
Little League to Pony League,and he always
made all star.Ernie Banks was his favorite
player and he(Ernie Banks)actually attended Billy's funeral.I am and always will love and be very proud for everything he ever did in his short,but perfect life."
William attended Lincoln-Way Community High
School and from Joliet Central High School
with the Class of 1967.
He enlisted in the Marines 28 March 1968 at
the Chicago Recruiting Office.
William arrived in Vietnam 17 September 1968
on his 19th birthday,and was assigned to the
1st Platoon,Echo Company,2nd Battalion,3rd
Marine Regiment,3rd Marine Division.
William died from a gunshot wound to the
body from small arms fire,when enemy forces
engaged 1st Platoon,during an ambush in the
DMZ,about 8 kilometers west of Lang Cam
Village.Two Marines,Cpl John D Belles of IL,
and Pfc Frederick R Horridge of CA,died during
William was single and served his country for
6 months and 15 days.KIA#33,989.
He had been in Vietnam for 26 days.
William was 19 years and 26 days old.

& Vera Druschel Wilson,a brother;Ricky and a
sister;Debi,all of 909 Richards St,Joliet,IL.
A sister;Mimi Joseph of 706 2nd Ave,Joliet,IL.
A step-brother;Thomas A Sowa of 1602 Summit St,Joliet,IL.
