Merlin N. Nelson, 88, of Alabaster, Ala., died Monday, August 27, 2007 at his residence. He was born on Friday, October 18, 1918 in Wisconsin, son of the late Nels B. Nelson and the late Helma Larson Nelson. He was a Military Analyst for the U.S. Government. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Gladys A. Nelson, of Alabaster, Ala., two daughters, Mrs. Vicki L. Nelson, of Alabaster, Ala., and Mrs. Beverly A. Antonio, of Clanton, Ala., son John R. Nelson, of Edgefield, S.C., and grandson, Mr. Daniel N. Nelson, of Edgefield, S.C. There will be no visitation and the family request no flowers. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. Graveside services will be at Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 4 p.m. with the Rev. James Elrod officiating. Interment will follow in Martin Memorial Cemetery, Clanton, Ala., 35045.
