Geraldine F. "Geri" Chilberg, 93, of Geneseo took the Lord's hand to join her beloved husband Robert Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Hammond-Henry Hospital, Skilled Care Unit Geneseo. Funeral services celebrating her life will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, May 25 at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd, Geneseo. Rev. Dr. Chris Ritter will officiate. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation for Geri will be Monday from 5-7 pm at Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd, Geneseo. Memorials may be directed to the Geneseo Historical Museum or Hammond-Henry Hospital Activities Department.
Geri was born February 6, 1917 in rural Geneseo the daughter of Robert and Ella (Hamann) Baze, granddaughter of Charles H. and Anna Hamann long time residents of Geneseo and owner of Charles H. Hamann construction Company. His Company stamp can still be seen on sidewalks and bridges in the Geneseo area. She was a graduate of Orion High School. Geri married Robert R. Chilberg April 1, 1942 in Cahokia, MO; who preceded her in death October 1, 1991. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Geneseo. Her claim to fame was being the 2009 Valentine's Queen at Hammond-Henry Hospital. Geri enjoyed her family, baking birthday cakes, and gardening.
Survivors include her twin daughters Anita (Don) Swihart, Stillwater, MN; and Angela (Mel) Snook, Geneseo; known as "GiGi" to her much loved five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, one brother Ken (Loretta) Baze, Geneseo; and a sister-in-law June (Chilberg) Levy, Sun City West, AZ.
She was preceded in death by brothers Howard and Raymond.
