STILLWATER, Okla. — Asuncion "Johnny" Huerta, 93, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 in his Stillwater home. A special rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, March17, 2012 at Strode Funeral Home. Services will be March 18, 2012 at 3 p.m. at St Francis Xavier Church with Father Kenneth Harder officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Asuncion (Johnny) Huerta was born August 15, 1918 in Sparks, Kan., to Refugio Huerta and Julia (Esparza) Huerta. He married Juana Villanueva Jan. 27, 1937 in San Julian, Jalisco. In 1948 they settled in Stillwater. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. He changed professions and became a dry wall specialist; his work was his signature until he retired. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church and a member of the NRA. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting.

He was predeceased by his parents and his wife.

He is survived by four sons, six daughters and 21 grandchildren: Jesus Huerta and wife, Elva, of Aransas Pass, Texas; Willie Huerta and his wife, Peggy, of Crescent; Mary Alice Burckhalter and her husband, Max, of Enid; Fay Cypret and her husband, Larry; Linda Rogers and her husband, Jim; Julia (Julie) Wright and her husband, Johnny; Steven Huerta, all of Stillwater; Asuncion (Junior) Huerta of Denver, Colo.; Dorothea (Dorothy) King of Crescent; Rosie Satterlee and her husband, Jim, of Guthrie; and one sister and five brothers of Mexico.

Pallbearers will be Anthony Huerta, Terry Huerta, James Sharpton, Michael King, Michael Nelson and Martin Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be Wesley Sharpton, Anthony Sharpton, Nick Huerta, and Christopher Nelson.
