Birth: 1828
Death: 1900

According to Davis Duty, in his book "A Family Called Duty", Joseph Duty served with the Confederate Morgan's Raiders in the Civil War and was disinherited by his family because they were Union sympathizers. He was captured by Union soldiers and confined to Camp Chase POW Camp from which he later escaped and rejoined the Army of Tennessee.
Census records list him as a farmer and shoemaker.
He married Christianna Martha Davis May 2, 1844 in Tyler Co., WV. No death record or place of burial have been located for her. Joseph separated from Christianna after the war and moved to Ohio with the young sister of a war buddy.
Davis Duty's book devotes several pages to Joseph and is quite detailed & interesting.
