OBITUARY:

Dock B. Vinson, 78, Neosho, died at 9:17 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2001, at Freeman West Hospital after a long illness.

He was born November 21, 1922, in Warner, Oklahoma, to Ben & Mattie (Bennett)Vinson. He had lived in Neosho 50 years. He worked as a heavy equipment Operator for the City of Neosho for 27 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Silver Moon Full Gospel Church.

He married Helen J. Thompson on March 21, 1942, in Vinita, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death July 2, 1999. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Bryant.

He is survived by two sons, Glen Vinson, Duenweg, and Benny Vinson, Seneca; one daughter, Jean Moore, Joplin; one brother, Leslie Vinson, Wagoner, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to the siblings listed below, Dock had a sister, Florence Irene Vinson Floyd who preceeded him in death in 1992.

Graveside services will be at 1:30p.m. Friday at the Spring Valley Cemetery near Tipton Ford, with the Rev. Freddie Franks officiating. Family members will serve as pallbearers: Glen Vinson, Benny Vinson, Leroy Moore, Greg Vinson, Tom Vinson, Brett Downing, and Mick Coster. Shane Bryant will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 8:00a.m. to 7:00p.m. Thursday, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
