Earl H. Davis
November 16, 1923 – October 5, 2011

Earl H. Davis, passed away at his residence, with his wife by his side, on October 5, 2011. He was 87. Private services will be held.

Earl was a retired contractor, having begun his construction career working many years for Corn Construction. He eventually owned Daco Construction, a heavy commercial and utilities company who was a contractor with many regional projects including Mesa Mall, Mesa College, schools, and hospitals.

December 7, would have marked 70 years, since Earl was at the Pearl Harbor attack, serving on the USS Tangier in the U.S. Navy. His duty also included the Bikini Bomb test during his years of service from 1940 - 1946. He so enjoyed participating in the initial Western Slope Honor Flight and was so moved by the welcome home at the airport.

He enjoyed his family, westerns, in particular John Wayne, four wheeling, trapshooting, and traveling. Through the years, his involvement included BPO Elks, Grand Junction Trap Club, Western Colorado ATV Club, American Legion, the D.A.V., and the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.

He is survived by his wife, Alice; son, Richard (Phyllis) Davis of Grand Junction, CO.; daughter, Marie (Galen) Shope of Loma, CO.; daughter, Linda Gibson of Ardmore, OK.; grandchildren: Jonathan Davis, Jacob (Alex) Davis, and Genevieve Shope; and niece, Dorothy (Smitty) Smith.

Earl is preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Earl Shope; son, Michael Davis; and siblings: William "Buddy" Davis, Daniel O. Davis, Arnold Davis, Blanche Galyean, and Angie Stewart.
