"Near the north side lies Stephen White, Revolutionary soldier, born in Ireland in 1761 and his wife, Mary Bigger, born in Maryland in 1761. They settled in Kentucky in 1790 and removed to this locality with the church [Sugar Creek congregation of the Associate Church]movement. He died in 1847.
Their son Thomas was born in Kentucky June 11, 1803. He inherited his father's Montgomery County homestead (now the George Hartsock farm), and in 1837 [Thomas] married Maria Bigger. They subsequently purchased additional property in Greene County and moved from the old homestead. They had four children. All were members of the Sugar Creek congregation."
