Dora Payne Cole
Mrs. Dora Payne Cole, 85, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at Hamilton Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the daughter of the late Miley and Phebe Ensley Payne and was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Cole; sisters, Rosie Caylor, Nellie Higdon, Bertha Pelfrey; brother, Cleade Payne.
Dora was a member of the Welcome Hill Baptist Church for 60 years and taught the Young People's Sunday School class for 50 years.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jackie and Joyce Cole of Dalton; granddaughter and her husband, Kathy and Brian Mathis of Dalton; grandson, Terry Cole of Dalton; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Mathis, Emily Mathis and John Cole; brother-in-law, Bill Cole of McCaysville; nieces and nephews; special friend, Elizabeth Neighbors; many friends and loving church family.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Welcome Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Deems, the Rev. Travis Martin and the Rev. Erwin Crider officiating.
Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Welcome Hill Baptist Church, Building Fund, 2740 Welcome Hill Circle, Dalton, GA 30721, or to Hamilton Hospice, P.O. Box 1168, Dalton, GA 30722.
