He was born August 5, 1956, in Idaho Falls, to James LaVern Allen and Helen Tippetts Allen. grew up in Idaho Falls, and attended Emerson and Hawthorne Elementary Schools, O. E. Bell Jr. High School and Idaho Falls High School. He married Sidney LaFaye Dixon on December 17, 1980 in Jackson, Wyoming. She preceded him in death August 8, 2002.
He worked for Idaho Falls School District #91 as a custodian, played guitar in the local band "Highlife" enjoyed teaching the guitar to younger kids, never met a person he disliked, and especially loved his nieces, nephews and animals.
