August 13, 1922 - January 22, 2010

Harlie Grover Spruell, 87, of DeSoto entered into rest at his home on January 22, 2010. Born August 13, 1922 in Picher, Oklahoma: he was the son of the late Floyd and Goldie Marie (McDowell)Leas. He is survived by his loving wife, Seraphine (Bequette) Spruell of DeSoto.

He was the father of Nathan (Karen) Spruell, Kevin Spruell, Jerome Spruell, Flavin (Carlen) Spruell, Davalie Frazer, Ardis Fischer all of DeSoto; eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and one brother, Carl Spruell of DeSoto.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers: Emery Spruell, Earl Spruell, Johnnie Spruell, Vernon Spruell, Richard Spruell, and a sister,Ruby Spruell.

Harlie was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Army. He was a member of the volunteer firefighters for the City of DeSoto for 25 years, a member of Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars and worked for the City of DeSoto Street Department. He volunteered at the DeSoto Food Pantry and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

Fr. Alex Anderson will be officiating the funeral service. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home, DeSoto Chapel.
