In 1860 James was living with his Uncle William Henry Boyle and his family in Michigantown,Clinton County, while he pursued his trade as carpenter.
He had met and fallen in love with Eliza Anne Brown and they married there July 19, 1860.
James's uncle ( brother to his father ) James Whitten Boyle
was a doctor in Oregon, he died in 1864 after a fall from his carriage.
His brothers called James Whitten Boyle "Whit" ,for short, this is where nephew, James Whit Boyl's name came from.

James's cousin James H. Boyle,(his uncle William Henry's son )was Commissioned an officer in Company C, Indiana 10th Infantry Regiment, Union., on 18 Sep 1861.

Both men were born within a month of each other in 1836 and spent time together when young men. James I am sure looked up to his cousin being an officer and may have wanted to follow in his footsteps.

James was living with his daughter Margaret E. Boyl Kirchner in Martins Ferry, Ohio when he became ill in early January, he was ill for a month before he passed away, from a malignant tumor ( Colon Cancer ) and old age, he was 87y and 28d old.

Fred Boyle is James's son and Lillian is Fred's wife.
