ANDERSON, ROBERT JAMES
62nd Alabama Infantry
Anderson joined Company H of the 62nd Alabama Infantry, formerly the 1st Alabama reserves April 5, year not known. However, it is believed he joined the Confederate Army later in the war, as he joined a soldier who was returning to service after a furlough. Anderson was captured at Fort Blakely in April of 1865 and taken to Mobile, Alabama as a prisoner of war. In all, Anderson served 18 months in the Confederate States Army.
Robert James Anderson, confederate veteran, was born in Clarke, Alabama December 24, 1847 to Joseph Anderson and Nancy Coreen McClure-Anderson. Robert Anderson was a widower when he entered the home and his religious preference was Methodist. He died February 27, 1936.
