Mr. Acton was a World War II veteran and member of Amanda Presbyterian Church. He was the son of the late Judge Frank M. Acton Sr., and had been employed by the Ohio Department of Liquor Control for 16 years, most recently at the local store on Memorial Dr. He was the Democratic candidate for sheriff in November 1956.
Mr. Acton was a lifelong resident of Fairfield County, spent 10 years as manager of Mt. Pleasant Orchards, 4 years as safety director for Anchor Hocking Glass Corp., 3 years as special investigator with U.S. Counter Intelligence during World War II, and a year with the currency protection branch of the federal government as special agent.
