Army Capt. John L. Hallett III, 30, of California; assigned to the 1st Battalion, 17th Infantry Regiment, 5th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Fort Lewis, Wash.; died Aug. 25 in Sha Wali Kot, Afghanistan of wounds sustained when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device. Also killed were Capt. Cory J. Jenkins, Sgt. 1st Class Ronald W. Sawyer and Pfc. Dennis M. Williams. John is survived by his spouse Lisa Hallett, and their three children, Jackson, Bryce, and Heidi. John is also survived by his parents, John and Wendy Hallett, and his two brothers Christopher and Thomas Hallett.
